1st-Century Village | Backlot
CRC built a 1st-century village adjacent to the North Texas Film Campus in Midlothian, TX. This village is a recreation of the ancient village in Israel, Capernaum off of the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
Historical Capernaum
Historical Capernaum is a Biblical village located near other important Christian sites in Israel such as Bethsaida, the Mount of Beatitudes, and Tabgha, as well as the Jordan River and Tiberias on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee. [Believed to be the second home of Jesus Christ] after He was driven from Nazareth by the religious officials (Luke 4:16, 28–30). Jesus referred to Capernaum often and did many of His miracles there (Matthew 8:5; John 6:17–21). He also taught in the synagogue (John 6:59; Mark 1:21).
